POSITION OVERVIEW

The Principal is the chief administrator of the school, responsible for overseeing policies, programs, curriculum activities, facility operations, and the school’s budget. The Principal must effectively communicate the school’s vision and goals to both parents and students. Additionally, the Principal is expected to collaborate with the administrative team, support and guide all staff members, and maintain positive relationships with the Ministry of Education.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Academic Leadership

Establish and promote high standards and expectations of academic performance and responsible behavior by all students and staff.

Supervise the instructional programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies.

Establish the annual master schedule for instructional programs.

Establish procedures for evaluation and selection of instructional materials and equipment.

School Operations and Management

Manage, evaluate, and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the philosophy, mission, values, and goals of the school.

Oversee daily schedule and operations of teaching-learning programs,

extracurricular activities, the discipline system, building maintenance, and personnel management.

Develop an annual budget in cooperation with the Board Finance Committee and the Accountant to accommodate the needs of all financial aspects of the school program.

Supervise accurate and timely records of students’ performance and attendance systems.

Student Affairs

Oversee student discipline and promote a positive environment for learning

Ensure student safety and well-being, including managing school safety plans and emergency procedures.

Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.

Staff Recruitment & Development

Recruit, interview, and hire qualified teaching and support staff aligned with the

school’s mission and values.

Supervise, evaluate, and support all school personnel, including teachers, counselors, and administrative staff.

Facilitate a structured continuous professional development opportunities tailored to staff needs and school goals.

Foster a collaborative, respectful, and professional work environment.

Compliance & Communication

Ensure compliance with all Board of Directors and Ministry of Education policies and communicate regularly with these institutions.

Communicate regularly with parents, seeking their support and advice, to create a cooperative relationship that supports the mission of the school.

Represent the school in meetings with educational authorities, regulatory bodies, and community organizations.

Use effective written and presentation skills when addressing students, staff, parents, and the community.

Strategic Planning and Improvement

Analyze school performance data to inform decision-making and school improvement plans.

Lead initiatives for innovation and school growth.

Set academic goals and monitor progress toward achieving them.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in school instruction and leadership

Master’s degree in administration or educational leadership from an accredited institution

Knowledge of, and experience with, educational requirements in the Middle East,

including working with Ministries of Education

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is an asset

Sensitivity and respect for working in multi-religious and multicultural environments

Strong passion for education
