JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Pediatric Certified Diabetes Educator, you will assess learning needs, develop an education plan, provide education and evaluate the outcome of education of patients and caregivers with diabetes. You will also provide education in the inpatient and/or outpatient setting and participate in teams for policy and protocol development.

You will work for a prestigious healthcare provider in Saudi Arabia. Based in Riyadh, but at times travelling throughout Saudi Arabia while providing Concierge Pediatric Certified Diabetes Educator Services. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Instruct classes and one-to-one consultations to provide patients with basic, intermediate, advanced and gestational diabetes information.
  • Educate patients on dietary management including carbohydrate counting, label reading, meal planning and information regarding dietary fats.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing and behavior modification theory to foster behavior change and self-management skills.
  • Provide patient nutrition counseling in areas such as hyperlipidemia, hypertension, weight management and GI disorders.
  • Tracks and prepares status and progress reports for Diabetic Patients.
  • Discerning cases of prospective and fully-fledged diabetes.
  • Issuing diabetes-related treatment and monitoring adherence thereto.
  • Educating patients and their families on appropriate diabetes-related care.
  • Underscoring the significance of pertinent lifestyle changes.
  • Strengthening existing multidisciplinary networks through active and respectful collaboration.
  • Bolstering internal and collaborative advocacy campaigns.
  • Chairing support groups for afflicted individuals.
  • Maintaining your licensure by adhering to all prescribed guidelines.
  • Participates in committees, task forces and teams as requested.
  • Follows all policies and procedures.
  • Participates in self and other's education, training and development, as applicable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Health Sciences 
  • Certified as CDE 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in insulin pumps
  • Pediatric experience
