JOB OVERVIEW

Georgia’s largest Christ-centered foster care agency (a non-profit organization, is hiring a Director of Church Engagement. We are seeking an experienced partnership representative who will successfully engage new church partners that ultimately inspire their members to become licensed foster or adoption parents. Those foster families will help care for countless children in new and existing counties across Georgia.

We are seeking someone with a deep passion for Christian foster care and adoption, and is inspired to expand our geographical footprint with new church partners. The successful candidate has a proven track of successfully working with churches of all sizes, is someone who understands the church marketplace, consultative selling and the complex sale involving a broad range of stakeholders. They will bring a track record of developing and closing new church partnerships that build strong relationships, create clear expectations to develop a successful church-based foster care ministry, and inspire action to launch the new ministry effectively. Additionally, this person will help organize and maintain parental recruiting, with the help of pastors and ministry team leaders. 

Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement, the Director of Church Engagement will help plan and execute strategies using the Community of Care and Community Engagement model. The main objective is to recruit new foster and adoption families via churches. This will be done through current partner churches, as well as newly converted churches. Will work in partnership with existing Director of Church Engagement team member. The work of this individual is critical to fulfilling the organization’s mission.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creative, innovative, strategic thinker and results-driven team member.
  • Strong communication skills, design, and execution experience, with strong passion for the organization's vision, mission, and goals.
  • Key responsibilities include working with the Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement in the strategic approach to growth within current churches as well as conversion of new churches.
  • Engage in the sales process with the Director of Church Engagement; partner cross-functionally with other staff as appropriate to maximize results.
  • Work with Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement on strategic details in plan for all targeted church partners/acquisitions.
  • Present fresh, creative, innovative ideas for unique, cost-effective, results-oriented strategic sales engagements and activities aligned with vision, mission and goals.
  • Help new church partners understand what makes for a successful church partner and secure buy-in to meet those expectations.
  • Foster and cultivate key partner relationships to ensure strategic engagement and strong relationship management and create new opportunities to add value.
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement to dial in and execute a strong strategic plan to drive incremental growth and help to build metrics and a compelling ministry-based value proposition.
  • Understand the key (business) drivers for our church partners, including long-term and short-term objectives, and develop messaging that engages both their heads and hearts to launch a foster care ministry in their church.
  • Develop creative strategies for church partnership expansion, creating greater foster care ministry impact within their church community.
  • Being able to think outside the box to close the right churches in each community.
  • Lastly, have an affinity for detail to maintain timely communications with key stakeholders and maintain Salsa CRM with up-to-date information on each church prospect.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree. Minimum of 7 years’ experience in church relationship/consultative sales role within a complex nonprofit entity.
  • 7+ years relevant experience, including sales, business development, and related marketing communications.
  • Previous experience in providing and implementing creative, innovative approaches for prospect engagement through closing the sale.
  • Proven self-starter - someone who swiftly identifies what needs to get done, then is eager to make it happen.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation communication skills (both internally and externally).
  • Strong presentation skills, including developing PowerPoint materials and delivering those presentations to senior church pastors and leadership teams.
  • Skill Requirements: Microsoft Office – strong proficiency and experience in working with Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Physical Requirements: Hearing and speaking ability which allows for effective oral communication of information. Ability to physically transport self and others to various locations. Physical and emotional stamina to effectively handle job-related issues and stress.

  • Personal vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed), cell phone provided by organization, copy machine, fax, computer (provided by organization).

  • Experience and ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and influence key leadership as well as interface with all other constituents, stakeholders, volunteers, and partners as appropriate.
  • Established relationships and church contacts preferred. Ability to interact with, influence and engage key leadership, staff, peers, and volunteers; comfort in proactively cultivating, developing and building strong relationships across all functions and at all levels
