JOB DESCRIPTION

A full-time position responsible for providing a full range of clinical dental, preventive and cosmetic dental care in a high-end private dental clinic setting. The Dentist leads and supervises the dental assistants and dental hygienists of the clinic in the absence of the Chief Dentist.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Examine individuals requesting care, diagnose their dental/oral conditions, prescribe and carry out, or direct others in carrying out appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refer individuals for specialist consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Record patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient’s dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided. 
  • In addition, the Dentist shall complete referrals, data collections instruments and other records or paperwork as shall be required from time to time by the company.
  • Educate clients in the nature of oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention.
  • Promote the business by taking part in activities which will attract persons requiring dental care to the clinic.
  • Prepare specific reports as requested by the Chief Dentist or General Manager.
  • Assist in the provision of continuing education, on-the-job training, and the orientation of staff of the clinic as requested.
  • Design, develop, and implement appropriate Dental policies, protocols and procedures as directed by the Chief Dentist in compliance with the most current accepted professional standards.
  • Participate in short- and long-term program planning for the clinic, including development of goals and objectives.
  • Provide consultation to the General Manager and the Board of Directors regarding dental and oral health issues in the absence of the Chief Dentist.
  • Travel when necessary to fulfill the company needs and attend meetings necessary to represent the company.
  • Together with other dentists, be responsible for personal full compliance with all applicable national, local and clinic rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures governing the practice of dentistry and the clinical provisions of dental care as well as those relating to, but not limited to, personnel issues, workplace safety, public health and confidentiality.
  • Participate in recruitment/retention activities of the company as necessary.
  • As directed by the Chief Dentist and/or General Manager, perform other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and programmed goals and objectives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Training

  • Graduation from an accredited dental school
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Ability to be clinically fluent in English
  • Knowledge of public health principles and practices preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills required
  • Excellent computer skills is required

Licensure and Credentials

  • License to practice dentistry in country of origin. Clinic to facilitate licensure process with the appropriate dental regulatory authorities in Ghana to enable dentist practice in Ghana

Skills and Abilities

  • Requires a comprehensive knowledge of primary dental care in outpatient settings.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of modern dentistry using state-of-the-art technology. Ability to use CAD CAM in dentistry will be an advantage
