JOB DESCRIPTION

Specializing in caring for young people, from infants to young adults, encompasses the care, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of medical conditions and issues that are specific to the younger population. Treat minor injuries, common illnesses, and some infectious diseases that may affect young people.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Examining young patients and diagnosing health issues for surgery.
  • Taking patients' medical histories, examining patients, ordering any necessary medical tests, and creating a plan of treatment for the patient. 
  • Must be able to communicate this plan and any medical options to the parents of the patient and answer any questions that they may have concerning the course of action. 
  • Responsibilities may also include administering vaccinations, providing preventative healthcare, and teaching patients and their parents about proper healthcare, like hygiene and nutrition. 
  • Often requires to be on call and work irregular hours as needed.

Academic Responsibilities

  • Keeps abreast of all the latest techniques and developments. Implement them on a selective basis to improve technical standards.
  • Actively participates in the educational activities and training programs of the department.
  • Participates in national and international medical conferences.
  • Provides hospital-wide consultations under the supervision of the attending consultant.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Undertakes the administrative duties assigned by the Head of Section or Chairman of the department.
  • Participates in all mandatory departmental activities.
  • Assists the department in the development and implementation of techniques and practices that help maximize the utilization of all resources within the department and across the hospital.
  • Abides by the current hospital and medical staff bylaws, all relevant rules, regulations and policies and keeps self updated of any changes that might occur.
  • Performs any other related duties, as assigned. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 

  • Must have graduated from a recognized medical school.
  • Certified in medical specialty by an approved Specialty Board.
  • American board in Specialty/Fellowship program in your country of origin.
  • Minimum two (2) years training in subspecialty required. 
  • Doctor of Medicine 
  • A keen interest in the treatment for and needs of children.
  • A strong working knowledge of pediatric physiology and pharmacology.
  • Excellent precision and dexterity in surgery.
  • A compassionate and caring nature.
  • Strong decision-making, leadership, and team working abilities.
