Head of Physical Therapy

JOB DESCRIPTION

Performs administrative, managerial and professional work providing leadership, directing, planning, and organizing activities for Physical Therapy. Develops and implements standards and procedures governing all aspects of Physical Therapy.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Develops goals and objectives, establishes and implements policies and procedures for departmental operations. Develops new programs as required. Develops performance standards.
  • Develops performance standards for the assigned service, reviews performance of the provided services, and assures its compliance with the Hospital standards, recommends corrective action as required.
  • Interprets and administers Hospital and medical policies to the assigned staff. Acts in advisory capacity to senior management, informs them of concerns, assists and advises them in resolution of problems related to Physical Therapy.
  • Plans, organizes and directs patient care activities and patient documentation. Develops and implements programs to meet patient care needs for the assigned services.
  • Reviews employment applications, interviews and selects most qualified candidate. Evaluates performance and initiates recommendation for personnel actions such as merit increases, promotions. Takes disciplinary action. Counsels employees to improve performance. Resolves staff grievances.
  • Directs the quality improvement and quality assurance program for the assigned services.
  • Evaluates patients and administers Physical Therapy procedures. Maintains treatment and progress reports. Consults with physician regarding treatments and patient progress as required.
  • Evaluates equipment and makes recommendations regarding purchase. Ensures that safety, infection and environmental control practices are observed.
  • Acts as clinical consultant to the assigned staff in areas of patient care, ethics, and research.
  • Prepares and maintains department budget, ensures to keep expenditures within the allocated budget.
  • Prepares reports and maintains a variety of records relating to Physical Therapy activities.
  • Attends case conferences with physicians, physical therapy staff members and nurses to discuss and evaluate patient's condition, progress and plans for future therapy to resolve special problems.
  • Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
  • Participates in self and other's education, training and development, as applicable.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • PhD, Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy is required
  • Five (5) years experience as a Physical Therapist with a PhD degree including three (3) years in Physical Therapy administrative experience; eight (8) of similar qualifications with Master’s Degree or ten (10) years of similar qualifications with Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • Valid License from country of origin is required.

  • Severance benefits: equivalent to 15 days basic salary is paid during the first four years, and then one month basic salary for each year thereafter. (The accrued amount is paid out to the employee upon resignation from the Hospital)
  • Sign-on bonus*: USD 5,000 for two (2) years and USD 2,500 for signing one (1) year contract (paid in four installments)
