Head of Respiratory Care Services

JOB DESCRIPTION

Provides administrative direction and coordination of all departmental services. Responsible for overall quality, performance and development of all therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care services and related policy and procedures documentation.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Plans, organizes, and assures provision of all respiratory care related patient services in Hospital.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures governing all aspects of respiratory care based on currently accepted standards of practice.
  • Develops expansions, additions, and modification to serve as required to meet changing patient needs.
  • Coordinates with Management and Support Team in Recruitment and Selection of qualified candidates for employment.
  • Establishes and develops performance standards, providing monitoring and appraisal of staff performance based on established standards.
  • Recommends or administers personnel actions such as promotions, merit increases, disciplinary actions and resolves staff grievances.
  • Responsible for the annual budget preparation, monitors budget of assigned to sections during fiscal year, insures that expenditures are within the assigned budget.
  • Interviews, selects, hires, and recommends training, of staff within the department.
  • Coordinates staff schedules and assignments to meet patient care and institutional needs.
  • Ensures high qualitative care services provided to the patients.
  • Maintains liaison with the department of Medicine and general medical staff, Nursing Services, other department heads, and various committees as appropriate.
  • Directly and thorough designees, evaluates new equipment and supplies, recommends, purchase as needed.
  • Supervises the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs for all respiratory care equipment, supply inventory control, quality control and proficiency testing for all laboratory instruments
  • Establishes and maintains compliance with departmental policies related to safety, infection and environmental control.
  • Maintains department and equipment in a manner that promotes health, comfort and safety of patients and staff.
  • Complies on-going records of procedures, department patient records, productivity and human resources statistics.
  • Uses statistics and the basis for planning, forecasting and justification of resources.
  • Maintains professional growth and development of Respiratory Care Services.
  • Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
  • Participates in self and other's education, training and development, as applicable.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • PhD, Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Care or other related discipline required from an accredited program
  • Five (5) years of related experience with a PhD degree including three (3) years experience in a managerial position, eight (8) of similar qualifications with Master’s Degree or ten (10) years of similar qualifications with Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • Respiratory Therapy Registry (RRT) from NBRC or CSRT preferred.

  • Sign-on bonus*: USD 5,000 for two (2) years and USD 2,500 for signing one (1) year contract (paid in four installments)
